Eliminate Accidents, Not Just Report Them
Deal With It® is an innovative workshop, with the main objective being to eliminate accidents by influencing people’s beliefs, attitudes and behaviours.
Not only will they work more safely, but LIVE more safely. This is an important aspect considering that more accidents happen in the home than anywhere else, but with the same result of pain and suffering and/or possible absence from work.
Inside The Workshop
What Happens On The Day
01 The Pre-Work Exercise
The workshop lasts for three hours, is highly interactive, and takes participants through self-exploration of the balance of risk, benefits and consequences. All attendees are required to carry out a five minute pre-work exercise detailing chances they have taken either in or out of work — this is used throughout the workshop, and the risks, benefits and consequences are analysed.
02 The Board Game
The workshop includes a specifically designed board game that reflects 'real life' by putting course delegates under pressure to make decisions when encountering various everyday situations. The choices are to 'take a chance' or 'deal with it'. The inevitable outcome is that sometimes we take chances and 'get away with it', but not always. The safest option is often not the easiest or most convenient — the game makes the workshop memorable, and although used as a fun element, the serious implications of taking a chance and the injuries caused to ourselves or others are explored.
03 The Pledge
Finally, participants are asked to provide a written declaration (The Pledge) of how they will change as a result of having undergone the workshop. This is sent out to them one month after the training to ask how it has affected them — opening up the opportunity of a genuine safety discussion.
Fits Right Into What You're Doing
Each workshop can accommodate a maximum of 12 delegates, keeping the group small enough for genuine discussion rather than a passive lecture. This training will complement your present safety policies, procedures and processes — it’s designed to sit alongside what you already have in place, not replace it, so there’s nothing to unpick or restructure before you start.
Ready To Take The Safer Choice?
Deal With It® changes how people think about risk, not just what they’re told to do — helping your team make the safer call even when it’s not the easiest one.
